"The major design challenge was to create a flexible, useful outdoor space within a site never intended to be used as a garden: a late 19th century brick mill complex and to design it for the contemporary needs of the tenants, a mixture of designers, artists, and residential lofts.

The design is primarily composed of hardscape elements: a brick walkway and circular landing leading to the main building entrance; and a pea stone gravel terrace, bordered within a rectangular grid of granite setts, a symbolic nod to the building's previous home as the RI Cardboard Company."

The perimeter beds adjacent to the fence and brick facade feature "industrial strength" plants - flowering pear trees, Japanese holly, arborvitae, clematis, climbing hydrangea, Boston ivy, and spring flowering bulbs; containers near the entry way feature ornamental grasses and seasonal herbs.
