Michael
Veracka has taken a long and
winding path to his current vocation. After
studying English as an undergrad, he had a brief stint as a disc
jockey, and even owned and operated a farm in Seekonk.
After several
years of his idyllic lifestyle, Michael decided to attend graduate
school in search of "design training to go along with my construction
background." With a RISD Master's degree in Landscape Architecture
in hand, he continued to develop his landscape design and construction
business, building his client list through word-of-mouth and the
"RISD grapevine." That grapevine led to one of his signature
designs - the patio at Olga's
Cup and Saucer in Providence, an eclectic mix of urban and country
elements resulting in a garden oasis in the midst of a busy city
block. Olga's is but one example of Michael's talent for "inviting
nature into the city."
As a result of his nontraditional path into landscape design, Michael
has a broad range of experience and knowledge to offer. Whether
you have a particular project in mind or are exploring a subject
you've always found interesting, you're sure to leave his class
with a better understanding of design and construction as they relate
to the natural environment.
Landscape
architect Michael Veracka teaches students the practical skills of selecting
appropriate materials and laying a patio, path or entryway. He also shares
a practical design eye and encourages you to approach your garden or landscape
projects with thoughtfulness an taste. |
